György Ligeti's choral masterpiece Lux Aeterna is best known from its use in Stanley Kubrick's film 2001: A Space Odyssey. It is a remarkable work that gave birth to a new musical language. This spectacular recording, which features the Capella Amsterdam led by Daniel Reuss, was originally released in 2008. György Ligeti, a leading composer of the branch of avant-garde music concerned principally with shifting masses of sound and tone colours. Ligeti, the great-nephew of violinist Leopold Auer, studied and taught music in Hungary until the Hungarian Revolution in 1956, when he fled to Vienna; he later View credits, reviews, tracks and shop for the 1988 CD release of "Kammerkonzert / Ramifications / Lux Aeterna / Atmosphères" on Discogs.
